Composite Deck Boards Product Details

Composite decking has grown in popularity over the past several years. It is rapidly becoming a "must-have" outdoor product for all homes and businesses. Composite decking is an excellent alternative to traditional wood flooring, providing the appearance of natural wood with the added advantage of low maintenance.

There are two different kinds of composite decking on the market right now. Composite decking that doesn't have a cap is also called the first generation of composite decking. The second generation of composite decking is capped composite decking. Both are made by pushing together recycled plastic and wood fiber in a process called extrusion. The difference is that capped composite decking has a polymer shell around it to protect it.

For decking projects, outdoor composite decking is an excellent option. Capped composite possesses many of the same qualities as other premium composite decking materials, including high resistance to rot, chipping, and warping. However, capped composite decking with a protective polymer shell is more popular among high-end deck manufacturers. In addition to the numerous advantages of composites, capped composite decking is more resistant to mold, water, and fading. This is the reason why capped composite decking is more expensive.

COOWIN® capped composite decking has a tough polymer shield that goes all the way around the core and covers it from every angle. The core is made of wood fibers, PE polymers, and other materials. COOWIN composite decking lasts longer than wood and is safer. You can trust any product made by COOWIN® that is made of composite decking. We will build you a high-quality outdoor deck that is much better than a deck made of wood.

Capped vs Uncapped Composite Deck Boards

Composite decking with capped edges is an upgraded version of the original product. Composite decking with a polymer shell and a deep 3D embossed wood finish is more advanced than the first generation of uncapped composite decking. The soft porous core is protected by large, stiff molecules, which reduce water absorption and extend the decking's lifespan. Composite products also benefit from the cleaner, more appealing finish that can be achieved using this method.

For the first few months, the color of first-generation composite wood decking fades slightly, but after that, it stays the same. Capped composite decking is more resistant to fading and staining because of its polymer shell. Capped composite decking, on the other hand, has a high level of slip resistance. However, compared to uncapped composite decking, it has a lower level of slip resistance. The polymer (plastic) shell of its protective shell makes it a little more slippery. Uncovered composite decking is a great option if you need a deck with a high level of slip resistance. More traction is provided by 3D wood grain or grooves in composite decking.

The polymer shell of Capped composite decking also adds the benefits of durability, scratch, and abrasion resistance. The capping also contains UV inhibitors. As a result, it has a much longer life than first-generation composite lumber decking. Both capped and uncapped composite decking types are environmentally friendly and offer unmatched value for your home. If you are considering building your outdoor project to add outdoor living space. COOWIN can do more to help you.

Following the preparation of the above items, we can clean the outdoor deck in four simple steps.

  1. Remove all furniture and decorations from the outdoor decking. Make sure you can thoroughly clean the entire composite wood decking. Then sweep the deck with a broom to remove all loose dirt and leaves.
  2. After removing the debris from the deck surface, first, rinse the floor with warm water. Then prepare a mixture of warm water and detergent. The consistency is similar to the way you would wash dishes.
  3. Scrub the entire decking with a mop and warm, soapy water, using good pressure to get into the grooves and remove stubborn dirt and grime.
  4. After carefully scrubbing the composite lumber decking, rinse off any remaining soap and residual dirt with clean water. Allow the outdoor deck surface to dry and move furniture and decorations back into place.

Make sure that the joists that hold up your deck are no more than 30 cm apart. This will allow you to use double joists where butt joints are needed.

Use the starting fasteners to accurately install the first composite deck. After that, it is recommended to use matching hidden fasteners for quick and safe installation.

Make sure to leave proper clearance at adjacent composite deck joints to allow for deck expansion.

When trimming to the size of the deck edge, use a straight board to guide the circular saw. This will allow for a more defined edge of the composite trim board.
